Cui Dalin, vice president of the State General Administration of Sport (SGAS) and the highest-ranking official in charge of soccer in China's sport's governing body, has suddenly retired, according to sports newspaper Titan.
Born in 1949, Cui was expected to retire last year but he decided to remain in the position and went to South Africa to see the World Cup. He also met AFC president Mohammed Bin Hammam during the latter's visit to China last week.
Titan said it had confirmed his retirement on Monday, but the information office of the SGAS said there was no official announcement when China Daily reached it on Wednesday.
