Stephanie Gilmore (Australia) Surfing, 22
In 2009, Gilmore claimed her third consecutive ASP Women’s World Title – making her the only surfer (male or female) ever to win the title each year they competed on the tour. Her overall title was highlighted by a win at the Roxy Pro Gold Coast, second at the Rip Curl Women’s Pro Bells Beach, second at the Commonwealth Bank Beachley Classic, and second at the Movistar Peru Classic. In short, Gilmore spent 2009 cementing her position as the dominant female surfer in the world.
