Ivanovic withdraws from tennis China Open

BEIJING: Serbian tennis player Ana Ivanovic has withdrawn from the tennis China Open due to a severe upper respiratory tract infection, said the China Open organizing committee here on Saturday.

It might be the second time the Serbian disappointed Chinese fans, as she also withdrew from Beijing Olympic Games last year.

"I am so sorry that I have to make an end of this season by this way, to withdraw from the China Open," said Ivanovic, the 11th seed of the tournament. "It's a hard decision for me."

"My Asian trip has been quite disappointing. I was bothered by my health since I arrived Asia." She said. "I feel very sorry to those who were looking forward to see me in China Open. Coming to such a good court but couldn't play a match, it's also a pity for me."
