LONDON -- World champion Ronnie O'Sullivan eased past Hong Kong's Marco Fu 5-1 to reach the quarter-finals at the British Grand Prix in Glasgow on Thursday.

The win just made up for Ronnie's defeat in last year's final to the talented Asian 9-6.

Breaks of 73, 57, 67 and 76 helped O'Sullivan progress to his 11th quarter-finals in the last 12 competitions he has entered.

"When he gets confident and gets on a roll, he's pretty much unstoppable, so I was surprised that I won," said O'Sullivan.

Fu had pulled level at 1-1 with a 116 break, but O'Sullivan won the next four frames in a row to triumph in just 65 minutes.

"In the first five frames I missed one ball, but Ronnie's safety was so good," said Fu.
