Bulgarian international Martin Petrov will become former England coach Sven Goran Eriksson's fourth signing at Manchester City after the Premiership club agreed with Atletico Madrid.

The 28-year-old passed a medical examination on Thursday to complete his move on 4.7 million pounds, and then just waited for a work permit.

Eriksson, who has already brought in Rolando Bianchi, Geovanni and Gelson Fernandes since he took charge at Eastlands, got substantial transfer funds from City's new Thai owner Thaksin Shinawatra.

The Swede is lining up moves for Bayern Munich's Roque Santa Cruz and Racing Santander's Nikola Zigic to further overhaul a squad that struggled in the Premiership last season.
