Mascot of 2007 special olympics games launched

China released, on Thursday May 17,
2007, the mascot of the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games, "Sunny
Sanmao," a happy-go-lucky resourceful boy with only three locks of hair.
Sanmao is the protagonist of a novel of the same title written by an
author in Shanghai, the hosting city of the Games. [china.com.cn] | China released a progress
report on preparation work for the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games, and
launched the mascot of the Games on Thursday.
Zhou Taitong, Executive Vice Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 2007
Special Olympics World Summer Games and Vice-mayor of Shanghai, introduced the
progress in preparation for the Games at a news conference held by the State
Council Information Office.
The mascot of the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games was also launched
at the news conference.
The 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games will be held in Shanghai from
Oct.2 to Oct.11. Over 10,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities, from 160
countries and regions, will take part in the games.
