Massa puts Ferrari on top for third day in a row(Reuters)Updated: 2007-05-08 09:04
Brazilian Felipe Massa kept Ferrari on top of the Formula One test timesheets for the third day in a row at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya on Wednesday. The Italian team said Massa, winner of the Bahrain Grand Prix on April 15, completed 106 laps of the Spanish Grand Prix circuit in the F2007 with a fastest time of one minute 21.506 seconds. Finnish team mate Kimi Raikkonen was quickest on the first two days of the test before handing over duties to the Brazilian. "We've learned a lot," the Autosport Web site (www.autosport.com) quoted Raikkonen as saying on Tuesday. "I found a better set-up for myself and the car seems to be handling the way I want now. "I think we are in a much stronger position now." Australian Mark Webber was second fastest in the Renault-powered Red Bull on Wednesday with Italian Jarno Trulli third for Toyota. Double world champion Fernando Alonso, testing a radical-looking new front wing for championship leaders McLaren, was fifth on the timesheets. Both Williams and Spyker headed for home a day early, the former after Germany's Nico Rosberg wrecked his car in an early morning crash and the latter team after Dutchman Christijan Albers's car suffered mechanical problems. The Barcelona circuit hosts the fourth race of the championship on May 13. Raikkonen, Alonso and McLaren's British rookie Lewis Hamilton are joint championship leaders on 22 points. |
