PHILADELPHIA - Larry Brown is returning to the Philadelphia 76ers as an executive vice president, nearly six years after leading the team to the NBA finals.

The Sixers said early Saturday that Brown will assist team president Billy King and the basketball operations department, and work on other special projects.

Brown has been out of basketball since the New York Knicks fired him in June after he went 23-59 in his only season in New York.
