AMSTERDAM, Nov 30 - Uruguayan Walter Pandiani sent Espanyol into the last 32 of the UEFA Cup on Thursday after inspiring them to a 2-0 win at Ajax Amsterdam.

Pandiani opened the scoring for the Spaniards, who had won their first two matches, 10 minutes before the interval when he headed home a cross.

Twelve minutes before time Pandiani beat his marker on the left flank to set up Ferran Corominas for the second goal.

The home side produced a lacklustre display and lacked the creativity to threaten the Spanish defence.

Espanyol qualify with nine points from three matches. Zulte Waregem, second on six points and also through, host third-placed Ajax on December 13. Ajax need a draw to progress.
