HK sportswoman wins Singapore Triathlon (Xinhua) Updated: 2006-07-03 11:03 Hong Kong athlete Tani Mak won the women's
Under-23 open title in the OSIM Singapore International Triathlon at the city
state's East Coast Park during the weekend.
The 19-year-old finished the three events, consisting of a 1,500-meter swim,
a 40-kilometer cycling and a 10-kilometer run, in two hours 14 minutes and 36
seconds.
Samantha Beenie from Australia won the women's open category with a total
time of two hours five minutes and 42 seconds.
Australian Bryce Quirk clinched victory of the men's open in one hour 49
minutes and 35 seconds, while compatriot Tim Porter won gold in the men's U-23
with a time of one hour 53 minutes and 46 seconds.
About 3,500 athletes participated in the meet, which ended on Sunday, with a
total of 16,100 U.S. dollars in prize money.
The OSIM Singapore International Triathlon is one of the International
Triathlon Union (ITU) events.
