BOCOG sets up security service

The Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) officially set up the Security Service on June 23 to effectively safeguard the public order and create a harmonious and safe office environment for the preparation and holding of the Olympics, it announced today.

According to the rules of the organization, the staff of the office will be selected and appointed by the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau, who are responsible for:

-- BOCOG security by drawing-up and improving the inside security system, instructing and pushing different departments of BOCOG to carry out the relevant security responsibilities;

-- Service in the area of the guard, fire-fighting, technological security, transport, national security, inside anti-terrorist activities, emergency-response and training for speedy treatment in case of any accidents;

-- Assistance to the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau to track and solve any security and criminal cases inside BOCOG; and

-- Enhancement of BOCOG staff's awareness of laws and regulations, knowledge about the fight against terrorism and riot, food safety, fire-fighting as well as precautions against theft and fraud.
