Olympic logo planned near Great Wall

Beijing plans to build a giant Olympic logo near the Badaling section of the Great Wall, the official Web site of the games said Tuesday.

The Beijing Games logo as well as its slogan "One World, One Dream," will be installed on a hillside, which is several hundred meters away from the Great Wall.

People will be able to appreciate the site tomorrow, as the Olympic organizing committee will be holding an unveiling ceremony for its Beijing Olympic Arts Festival.

Reportedly Salt Lake City, U.S. and Sydney, Australian officials built similar logo projects when they held the Olympic Games.

The Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games installed its logo on a popular mountain, while Sydney placed the logo on its Harbor Bridge, which attracted the attention of millions of people.

The Badaling section is the most famous part of the Great Wall in Beijing, and covers a section of 629 kilometers passing through six districts, including Huairou, Changping, Miyun and Mentougou counties.
