Wang Senlin, born in North China’s Shaanxi province in 1966 and graduated from Peking University in 1989, now works in the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He studied photography by himself through reading professional books and an appreciation of good photos since 2004.
These photos are about a Qinqiang Opera interest group called Da Qin Zhi Qiang in Beijing. Qinqiang Opera was popular in Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and still has many runs in some northwestern regions of China.
These young amateurs, aged around 30, come from different walks of life, but they share the common interest of Qinqiang Opera, so they formed the troupe five years ago.
Wang, a fan of Qinqiang Opera, became familiar with the group in October 2009 and then spent half a year photographing their training, rehearsal and performance.
