The Shanghai Shipping and Financial Industry Base, a platform that serves companies in the shipping and financial industries, attended the Nor-Shipping 2015 in Oslo, Norway on June 2-5 to seek more business opportunities, the Pudong Times reported.
The biennial Nor-Shipping is one of the three largest international maritime fairs in the world, with a history of more than 50 years. The Base delegation met with a number of global shipping enterprises and associations during the fair and briefed them about the China's the Belt and Road Initiative, namely the Silk Road Economic Belt and the Maritime Silk Road.
They encouraged foreign companies and overseas Chinese entrepreneurs to start businesses in Shanghai. Some of them have already reached cooperation agreements with the delegation during the fair to open branches at the Shanghai Shipping and Financial Industry Base.
The Base was first launched at the Fifth International Shipping Strategy Development Seminar and Lujiazui Shipping Forum by Shanghai's Pudong New Area, China Merchants Group and Maritime London in October 2014.
The base will host an international summit on the Belt and Road Initiative in both Shanghai and London this September to discuss cooperation and development in the shipping and financial industries, according to the Base delegation officials at Nor-Shipping.
