Fancy the idea of dancing on the deck of a decommissioned Russian warship? You will have your chance this Saturday at what is being billed as "the first rave on an aircraft carrier in the world."
Brought to you by the organizers of the annual "Great Wall Beach Party," the "Great Aircraft Carrier Party" will run from dusk until dawn on the runway of the Russian aircraft carrier Kiev.
"It is such a special structure," said El-Mar Bengel, one of the organizers of the floating rave. "And it is such an amazing, amazing place. Just the fact that we can make this happen in China is even more amazing as well."
Since being purchased by a Chinese company in 1994, the Soviet ship has been docked in the waters of Bohai Bay near Tianjin.
On Saturday night Kiev will see action again as hundreds of partygoers rock out on her runway to beats from some of the best DJs bouncing around Beijing: Mickey Zhang, DJ Blackie, Patrick Yu, Suki, Ou Yang, Spark, DJ Carlo, El-Mar, Ludo V and QQ - just to name a few.
They will spin their sets from stages interspersed with old fighter planes, helicopters and a giant cannon. Plenty of drinks will be served on board while food, such as sandwiches and hotdogs, will be available on shore.
Buses will take partygoers on the two-hour journey from Wudaokou and the Workers Stadium to Tianjin on Saturday afternoon. The buses will make return trips throughout the night. There will also be a few hotels rooms available.
