High-end clothing company Lacoste returns with its classic Red! line, launched last season with an eye on a younger, more urban segment.
The line's creative director Christophe Lemaire takes his consumers on a trip to Mexico. "It [the collection] is more vibrant, with vivid colors a highlight of this kaleidoscope collection", Lemaire explains.
Menswear is all about slim-cuts. The guys are sure to like the blue cotton gingham check twill shirt, with its skinny fit and two-button corner cut cuffs, paired with slim-fitting black trousers in combed cotton. Though autumn is still far away, there are signature pieces for the season, including a crew-neck fleece sweatshirt with kaleidoscope print, a zipped wool jersey "Teddy Boy" cardigan in gray with aquamarine ribbing at the waist, cuffs and collar, and a colorful striped jersey polo that is certain to jazz up any boring wardrobe.
For women, there is the block effect created by pairing a short sleeve dress with boat neck worn over a black turtleneck and neon yellow tights. A sleeveless blouson with detachable hood in coated gabardine and a quilted nylon jacket matched with a knitted mini-skirt, complete the must-haves for the ladies.
While the line is determined to bring some color into the season, it does have some accessories in black and white. Lacoste's bags and leather-goods collection designed specially for 2009, are mostly in brown fur and leather.
