"Eternal Olympics"Epic painting exhibition of Olympics

“Eternal Olympics” Epic Painting Exhibition of Olympics, which was co-organized by Chinese Olympic Committee and National Sports Bureau, held the grand opening ceremony at Art Gallery of China National Academy in Beijing on July 24. In the history of human civilization, arts and Olympics have a tradition of being linked together. Sports culture and art permanently make up the core elements of the Olympics, and the Olympic games inherit the charm and spirit of both. So the exhibition, which opened before the games, has its important significance. The 200-meter long “Eternal Olympics” scroll, created by over 150 artists from all over the world, is composed by 200 pieces of work that reflect the Olympic heroic figures, the host cities’ splendid scenery, and the past Olympics’ mascots, national flowers and birds. Being a unique theme scroll and one of the largest and longest pictures, it artistically displays a paranomic picture of the Olympics and its history. However, the epic scroll has only being started, new creations will added into the picture as the Olympic flames goes on eternally. The artists who take part in the painting include Yan Jiyuan, Ji Xianlin, Wen Huaisha, Fan Ziyi, Lou Shibai, etc. Many of them have obtained overseas fame. Mr. Feng Jianzhong, Vice President of the Chinese Olympic Committee and the Vice Minister State General Administration of Sports, Mr. Lu Zhangshen, committee member of CPPCC National Committee curator of National museum, Mr. Zhang Haifeng, Vice Secretary General of the Chinese Olympic Committee, Mr. Lu Shunyu, Director of the Art Gallery of China National Academy in Beijing attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition. More than two-hundred distinguished guests including sixty countries’ ambassadors to China, over thirty famous painters and fifty domestic and foreign journalists also made a trip to the exhibition on that day. |
