Beibei district is one of the nine districts of Chongqing city and is an important part of Liangjiang New Area. It is located near Jialing River and covers an area of 755 square kilometers - with a permanent resident population of 800,000.

Beibei district is part of the developed urban economic circle and open inland economic demonstration area of Chongqing and it is also part of the Chongqing One Hour Economic Circle Region.

It is located 24 kilometers away from the Chongqing municipal government offices and 26 km from Jiangbei International Airport -- and it also boasts a convenient logistics system, including easy access to railway lines and expressways.

Beibei has four 4A level scenic spots, three universities, one national university technological park, seven national key engineering research centers and labs, 71 science and technology R&D platforms above municipal level and 104 historic and cultural heritage sites.

In 2020, Beibei's GDP reached 63.6 billion yuan ($9.77 billion).
