With the support of other districts in Chongqing municipality in Southwest China, Liangjiang New Area managed to balance virus prevention and control with high-quality development. By fully implementing the chain chief system, the new area now has an optimized business environment, with economic resilience and vitality further strengthened.
During the past year, Liangjiang has introduced 10 new research institutes, registered 900 new digital economy operators, and featured many smart scenarios and facilities which are all in use.
The numbers of high-tech enterprises and technology-oriented firms hit 1,159 and 6,258 respectively, and 33 corporations have been recognized as little giant companies, bringing the total number of such companies to 119.
Liangjiang has initiated China's first cross-border loan program for technology firms, with 1.44 billion yuan ($226.55 million) in loans issued to sci-tech companies. The number of valid patents surged 15 percent to 3,800.
Liangjiang's industrial production index ranks first in Chongqing, with the total output of industries above a designated size exceeding 550 billion yuan.
As far as modern services are concerned, Liangjiang is responsible for some 70 percent of municipal cross-border e-commerce and has a thriving big data sector. There are in total 21 smart workshops and 60 digitalized factories in the new area.
Foreign trade continues to show its potential. Liangjiang's total imports and exports increased by 29 percent, with foreign investment in actual use hitting $3.26 billion.
Guoyuan port recorded a total cargo throughput growth of 41 percent, and the transport businesses of the China-Europe freight train and the New Land-Sea Corridors have also expanded to varying degrees.
