Chongqing has been officially selected among the first group of national airport-based logistics hubs for the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25), according to a circular issued by The National Development and Reform Commission.
A national airport-based logistics hub is a logistics center assigned by the commission, able to collect, distribute, warehouse, and transship cargo. The hub is expected to stimulate economic growth, deepen the opening-up process, and better integrate the regions into the new development paradigm.
The logistics hub selected this time is located in the Chongqing Linkong Economic Demonstration Zone, which can be divided into two functional areas that provide core logistical and other supporting services, respectively, with a total planned area of 9.8 square kilometers.
This is the third national logistics hub in Chongqing, in addition to Guoyuan port based in Liangjiang New Area, Chongqing Logistics City and Chongqing Jiangjin Comprehensive Bonded Zone. The three hubs have made the municipality the only city to simultaneously support port, land-sea, and airport logistics.
To increase its transportation capabilities, Chongqing will carry out systematic reforms and establish a logistics operator alliance to attract more foreign investors and private and State-owned enterprises.
UK trade commissioner for China praised Chongqing as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
