A software talent cultivation summit forum was held in Liangjiang New Area, Southwest China's Chongqing on June 5. During the forum, an unveiling ceremony that signaled the establishment of the Liangjiang Software and Digital Economy Research Institute was unfolded.
Among those attending were Yang Zhenghua, vice-director of Chongqing committee of economy and informatization; Li Jie, member of the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Party Work Committee and vice-director of the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Administrative Committee; Zhao Guohua, vice-president of Southwest University and Tang Zhenming, executive director of Chinasoft International Ltd.
Officials from the municipal government, as well as representatives from universities and corporations, delivered keynote speeches to the forum.
The topics ranged from innovative education models, international educational cooperation programs, teaching resources and information technology applications and industry development.
The new institute was formed under the auspices of the Chongqing committee of economy and informatization.
It was developed by the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Administrative Committee, Chinasoft International, Southwest University, Chongqing Jiaotong University and Chonggqing University of Technology.
It is understood that the software institute is committed to advancing the municipality's software industry and bringing in and training more top-flight software professionals.
The institute was reportedly built in response to the practical needs of companies and will act as a development platform that will promote synergies between industry and academia. More importantly, it is expected to expand and enrich Liangjiang's software labor pool and boost Chongqing's digital industry.
Students enrolled in the institute will get practical experience in a corporate environment, providing them with work opportunities, in order to better equip them with the knowledge and skills they need in their future careers.
UK trade commissioner for China praised Chongqing as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
