As one of the most important auto industry clusters in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, Liangjiang New Area produced 757,000 automobiles from January to October this year, with an output value of 134.4 billion yuan ($20.55 billion).
Currently, Liangjiang has 10 auto production companies and more than 200 auto part companies, forming a supply chain covering engines, speed transmissions, braking systems, steering systems, automotive electronics, chassis, air conditioning and interior decoration.
Led by China Automotive Engineering Research Institute Co, a company focused on auto service and industrialized production, Liangjiang's auto R&D and innovation ability have increased in recent years.
Liangjiang also keeps completing its industrial auto chain by attracting core auto parts companies, creating an "internet of vehicles." During the first 10 months of this year, 20,443 new energy vehicles were produced in Liangjiang.
The new area is accelerating the construction of crucial auto battery manufacturing projects. It has attracted several hydrogen fuel cell projects and is working on hydrogen energy vehicle development policies and hydrogen refueling stations.
By 2025, Liangjiang aims to produce more than 2 million vehicles and achieve an auto output value of more than 350 billion yuan in its direct management areas. Among the vehicles, more than 500,000 should be new energy and intelligent connected vehicles with an output value of 100 billion yuan.
UK trade commissioner for China praised Chongqing as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
