SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile (SGMW) in Liangjiang New Area, Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, is adopting digital hardware and big data software in its new engine factory.
The factory has introduced 68 robots into its machining and assembly workshops, as well as nine automated guided vehicles into its product warehouses. The robots will be used for material transportation, gluing, tightening, cleaning, clip removal and machine testing.
Benefiting from these highly automated production lines, SGMW could recover capacity from the impact of the epidemic this year.
According to the factory, it takes only two to three years for each robot to recover costs. The application of the robots can not only increase the automation rate of production lines, but also significantly improve the flexibility of product manufacturing.
SGMW also self-developed an artificial intelligent camera recognition program, which can allow cameras to achieve an accuracy of over 99.5 percent, using graphic cards.
Another self-developed transparent production line in SGMW allows managers to solve problems quickly by analyzing and utilizing the assembly process data.
The factory has targeted consumption reduction and energy saving since the start of the construction, and pays close attention to any abnormal energy consumption during daily production to continuously improve the factory's energy consumption.
In addition, the factory uses a self-developed water, electricity and gas digital acquisition system to feed into its digitalized energy management.
UK trade commissioner for China praised Chongqing as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
