The first freight train of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor between Southwest China's Chongqing municipality and Sichuan province's Dazhou officially began operations on Nov 27.
The operation of the freight train is part of the agreement signed between CCI Eurasia Land Bridge Logistics Development Co and Chongqing Three Gorges Rail-Water Logistics during the Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade in May.
According to the agreement, both sides will co-establish distributive centers in Chongqing and Dazhou, while the freight train will promote the integration of logistics, as well as boost regional economic development in Chongiqng, Dazhou, and Beibu Bay.
The freight train will also connect the river and railway transportation in Chongqing and Sichuan with sea transportation to contribute to the opening-up efforts in West China.
By the end of October, 757 freight trains of the rail and sea combined transportation have been operated along the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, with an annual transportation value of 5 billion yuan ($710.97 million), covering 201 ports in 84 countries and regions.
Chongqing strives to build the operation center of the New International Land-Sea Corridor, and will release the related implementation plan to promote the common development of provinces and cities in West China.
UK trade commissioner for China praised Chongqing as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
