The China-Singapore (Chongqing) international dedicated internet channel was recently opened in Singapore, which is an important part of the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity.

The channel is the first of its kind in China to connect with a single overseas country. Approved in February, it finally came into operation in September, three months ahead of the plan.

During the opening ceremony, a total of 12 cooperative projects were signed with 14 enterprises, covering telemedicine, smart tourism, smart logistics, and cross-border e-commerce.

During an assembly testing at the 2019 China Smart Expo, which was held in Chongqing municipality from Aug 26 to 29, the channel attracted 14 enterprises from China and Singapore, including Tencent, Global Data Solution (GDS), and Farr Park Hospital.

The channel can provide ultra-high-definition video service to enterprises of Chongqing and Singapore, ensuring safer and faster exchanges with the features of high speed, broad bandwidth, low latency, as well as high reliability.

"Based on the channel, a new system on telecommunication network and information service for the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor is expected to take shape," said a spokesperson from the Chongqing big data development department.
