As Chongqing's automotive industry undergoes intelligent transformation, Liangjiang New Area is doubling down on expanding its strategic consulting and industry standard markets.
The China Automotive Engineering Research Institute (CAERI) released its first group of vehicle ratings, based on the China Insurance Automobile Safety Index (C-IASI), in Chongqing's Liangjiang New Area on Sept 26.
The ratings placed participating vehicle models into four levels: Good, Acceptable, Marginal, and Poor.
Combining customer benefits with insurance company ideas, CAERI tested and evaluated 12 vehicle models, including the Mercedes-Benz C200 and BMW 318I, in terms of crashworthiness, occupant safety, pedestrian safety, and back-up safety.
The ratings can help car owners take all factors into consideration, helping them to choose the most appropriate insurance type and amount.
C-IASI is the first Chinese rating system to assist customers in purchasing car insurance.
The 2018 C-IASI Index can greatly reduce discrepancies between costumers and sellers, according to Wan Xinming, general manager of CAERI.
Headquartered in Chongqing's Liangjiang New Area, CAERI has accumulated strong R&D assets and has built a solid industry reputation. The institute also plays a key role in China's automobile industry in terms of product development, technical breakthroughs, and quality tests.
Chongqing is the largest automobile manufacturing base in China. As the core cluster of Chongqing's automobile enterprises, Liangjiang New Area is taking full advantage of big data and intelligent methods to improve its automobile industry.
UK trade commissioner for China praised Chongqing as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
