According to a local source, Tencent's southwest headquarters are to be established in Liangjiang New Area, Chongqing in order to further expand the company.

Tencent, as a key internet company in China, has created QCloud, Tencent Games, customer service and information security work teams in Chongqing. The total number of employees in Tencent's Chongqing branch have exceeded 400 and will reach 1,000 by the end of the year.

Tencent will establish its southwest headquarters in Chongqing within the year and will work together with the city to develop big data.

The company will also invest 3 billion yuan ($436.5 million) into the second phase of the West Cloud Computing Big Data Center.

The first stage of the center was completed in 2013 and is an important data and internet center for Tencent in southwest China. It serves as a large data center cluster which provides cloud service, computing and internet technology for west China and the whole country.

Tencent will also sign a strategic cooperation agreement with the Chongqing Municipal Public Security Bureau to cooperate on the construction of a police big data platform and livelihood police affairs to fight crime.

According to a staff member of Tencent, the company will keep cooperating with Chongqing on city and government affairs, tourism, medicine, education and transportation.
