All trains running on the newly opened Chongqing-Guiyang railway can now be traced through a new-generation intelligent system for train number recognition.

Developed by Chongqing MicroID Technology Co Ltd, which is located at Liangjiang New Area, the system adopts leading Internet of Thing (IoT) and AI technologies and combines high-speed RFID recognition and a high-resolution image algorithm.

The system can reach an automatic recognition rate of 99.99 percent and has won the third prize of Chongqing Science and Technology Advancement.

As a new rail-sea link between the landlocked west and Southeast Asia, the Chongqing-Guiyang railway was officially operational on Jan 25. The line cuts travel time between Chongqing and Guiyang from the current 10 hours to two.

Zhao Jianru, general manager of Chongqing MicroID Technology Co Ltd, said that the system greatly increases the transparency of trains' running times and can track their location and cargo in real time. The adoption of RFID technology increases automation and reduces management costs.

"With the system we can keep track of the train's model, number, and its current situation. It's as if every train has its own accurate 'ID'," Zhao added.

A train safety management system also has been put to use on the rails to automatically monitor the train's operation and the work of train stewards.

He said, "The management system uses computing and network technologies to dispatch and shift train drivers' working time, which improves efficiency and ensures the safety of baggage."

Established in 2006, the company currently has 92 authorized patents including seven patents for invention and around 70 software copyrights. So far it has provided its products or services for more than 1,000 railway IoT systems.
