Chen Lyuping, vice-president of the Chongqing Municipality, met with Yin Jiaxu, president of the China North Industries Group Corporation (NORINCO Group), in Beijing on Aug 22 to discuss current development efforts in military-civilian integration.
The meeting is a move to carry out the "military-civilian integration" scheme put forwarded in 2015. Military-civilian integration aims to apply military resources for civilian use, while encouraging civilian investors to become involved in military industries.
Chen said that the Liangjiang New Area (LNA) has launched a series of policies to develop strategic emerging industries and drive innovation in military-civilian integration.
According to Yin Jiaxu, military–civilian integration plays an important role in the national economy and Chongqing has a profound basis for military industries. Yin said that he hopes to cooperate more with LNA in high-tech industries and entrepreneur talents.
NORINCO Group is a major State-owned enterprise and the foundation for China's national security and armed forces equipment development. The group serves as support for the "Going-out" strategy, as well as the main force in promoting integrated military and civilian development.
By the end of 2016, NORINCO Group's total assets were close to 369.3 billion yuan, while the group's employees totaled 253,000.
