Skydiving enthusiasts gathered in Chongqing for an adrenaline fix under the roof of the the Jihua Garden Extreme Sports Center during the 2017 National Indoor Skydiving (Wind Tunnel) Tournament from June 17 to 18.
The two-day competition, held in the Liangjiang New Area, attracted 11 teams consisting of more than 50 skydivers.
Competitors were divided into four groups—teenagers, singles racing, doubles modeling and four-man modeling. Scores were calculated over three rounds, with the top three highest scores announced as winners of the competition.
The vertical wind tunnel used for the competition has a diameter of 4.3 meters and is capable of producing wind gusts at a terminal velocity of 255.6 kilometers per hour. The wind speed can be adjusted up to 55 meters per second at most to accommodate the various aerodynamic needs of individuals.
