Yufu Industrial Development Zone of Liangjiang New Area, established on June 29, 2010, is becoming the most important shipping-railway transport base and port logistics collecting and distributing center in western China.
To showcase the industrial development of Liangjiang New Area, Yufu Industrial Development Zone strives to become an important industrial base of automobile manufacturing, equipment manufacturing, and shipping-railway transport in western China and aims to achieve a total industrial logistics output value of 500 billion yuan ($72.4 billion) by 2020.
The billion-dollar Liangjiang International Automobile City is the zone’s pillar automobile manufacturing base, which focuses on new-energy vehicles and aims to create the world’s largest mini-car manufacturing base as well as the largest passenger car manufacturing base in west China. It also aims for a capability of up to 2.2 million automobiles, 3 million engines, and a series of auto parts.

With an investment of 6.6 billion yuan for the first phase, SGMW, one of the bestselling automobile enterprises in China, centered its Chongqing base in Liangjiang International Automobile City, with an annual output of 400,000 vehicles and 400,000 engines. Having started operations on Nov 18, 2014, SGMW’s Chongqing base includes stamping, automobile body manufacturing, painting, assembly, and an engine plant, as well as other facilities.
Apart from SGMW, the International Automobile City has also seen the construction of a Xiaokang Fiat Engine center and the Chang’an Group’s center for cars and engines. Honeywell and Hankooktire have also entered the industrial zone and put plants into operation.

Yufu also aims to build a rail transport industrial park, which focuses on the development of Changchun Railway Vehicle Company, and is creating three major platforms: manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance for light metro, intercity trains, and CRH trains.
The zone, with an area of 67 square kilometers, includes Yuzui town, Fusheng town, and some areas of Guojiatuo Street. Among the three industrial parks in Liangjiang New Area, Yufu Industrial Development Zone achieved the maximum number of projects, attracted the most investment, and reached the highest total industrial output, and the highest total tax revenue.
