Lianglu-Cuntan Tariff Bonded Area, the only tariff bonded zone in inland China, is an implementation zone for the national Belt and Road Initiative, the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity.
Lianglu-Cuntan boasts an international port near the city, covering an area of 400,000 square kilometers in Liangjiang New Area. It is poised to be a first tier industrial base for all kinds of trade, including tariff bonded demonstration, cross-border e-commerce, and transit and headquarters trade. It is also available for aircraft leasing and export and import of automobiles.
Over years of development the area has made big progress and has become the only port to import fruit and meat into western China, laying a good foundation for Chongqing’s international commerce development. It has established a tariff bonded logistics base with a focus on smart terminal industrial clusters.
The zone has pioneered a novel mode of water transportation, which allows cargo ships carrying freight such as fresh agricultural products and other time-sensitive products to be shipped to Chongqing at a low cost. This development is rapidly changing the type and quality of goods arriving in the city and a first was set on Dec 22, 2016, when 13 tons of fresh beef arrived in Chongqing Lianglu-Cuntan Tariff Bonded Zone from Australia.
