Liangjiang New Area hosted the 2017 Asia Big Data Visualization and Analysis Summit on March 29, looking into ways big data can be used to improve public safety and security.

More than 20 entrepreneurs from domestic big data companies, such as HYDATA, Oriental Fortune Capital and Zhongguancun Big Data Industry Alliance, attended the summit, the biggest of its kind in Asia.

One of the hottest talking points of the event was HYDATA’s automated lip reading technology which has been developed with the Chongqing Municipal Public Security Science and Technology Research Center since last December.

Feng Yicun, founder and CEO of HYDATA, said that the technology is expected to surpass that of Google’s similar DeepMind software.

In developing the technology, HYDATA used real life case studies supplied to it by the public security bureau. It is hoped the technology can be used to assist the police in solving crimes by analyzing public security cameras more effectively.
