Jinshan E-cool, located at the Liangjiang New Area of Chongqing, opened its first phase to the public on Dec 8, 2016, becoming a new landmark of the city as an innovation based on worn-out factories.
The second phase of Jinshan E-cool has finished full indoor demolition and is expected to open in December after reconstruction, local media reported on March 17.
The expansion of Jinshan E-cool, an art zone similar to the famous 798 District in Beijing, will cover an area of about 29,000 square meters. Buildings in this culture-based zone features modernity and simplicity.

Cheng Zhenglin, general manager of Chongqing Merchants Jinshan E-cool Business Management Ltd Co, said, “We will change the structure of the roofs and production pipelines of the old factories. New design elements will be applied during the reconstruction of these factories.”
Modern materials including glass, section steel, and louvers will be adopted in the remodel based on the factory’s original structure. A parking building is also included in the expansion to solve the parking problem in the art zone.

The art zone features artwork on the theme of culture and tourism, and was transformed from old workshops of export processing industries in Liangjiang New Area. Various creative crafts and products including woven crafts, pottery works, paintings, and local clothes are on display in the zone.
Some 26 renowned enterprises have settled down in the first phase of Jinshan E-cool, including Vilner Studio, a Bulgarian-based luxury tuning company. And another five companies have inked a contract to enter the second phase of the art zone.
