The newly opened Liangjiang International Movie City proved to be the hottest ticket in Chongqing for families over the seven-day Spring Festival holiday. The attraction welcomed 1.06 million visitors and 320,000 cars through the doors from Jan 27 to Feb 2.
Visitors had the chance to enjoy the sight of reproduced Republic of China era buildings which echo many of Chongqing’s unique landscapes. The sites that drew visitors to whip out their cameras were Chongqing Dock, Cathay Theater and the Hengdali Clocks.

Activities such as showing off folk customs and sugar making demonstrations gave visitors a further flavor of life in old Chongqing. Additionally, professional dancing and singing teams and a series of parades were invited to help bring vibrancy to the New year celebrations. The movie city also hosted activities such as lion dancing, lantern riddle competitions, and wedding feasts.
The authorities were well prepared for the festive rush and deployed more than 300 security personnel and 80 cleaners to ensure that the movie city maintained its high levels of service and hygiene.

Zeng Peng, vice president of Chongqing Zesheng Culture Tourism Development Co Ltd, recently explained that the Liangjiang International Movie City has witnessed a high number of visitors since opening on Jan 1 and reached full capacity throughout the Chinese New Year.
“We want to visitors to feel and experience the old wolrd of Chongqing through these activities. The event will run until Feb 14,” said Zeng.

Located at Longxing Industrial Park in Chongqing Liangjiang New Area, the 120,000-sqaure-meter city is just one hour’s drive away from downtown Chongqing.
