Alibaba Ding Summit (Chongqing) stunned more than 300 business leaders with Alibaba’s new business chat app, Ding Talk, in Chongqing municipality on Aug 23.
Ding Talk, a collaboration and message app for small and medium-sized businesses, is Alibaba’s latest attempt to penetrate China’s social media market. The app, which has a high level of security, allows a company’s employees to collaborate on projects and share files, including PDF documents.
Chen Hang, the founder of Ding Talk, demonstrated an exciting function on the app as he set up a conference call with all the attendees at the same time without having to type every team member’s name into a large group message. Also, he outlined the company’s ambitions in the local social media market.
“We aim to provide small and medium-sized companies in Chongqing with the most advanced technology, at a low cost and no threshold. It will help these companies to transform into the cloud computing era.”
The first Software as a Service (SaaS) base is expected to be built in Chongqing under the support of Ding Talk, according to Ju Yan, the deputy director of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology.
Ding Talk has gained over 1.5 million users from companies and organizations across the country since it began operations in February, 2015. The majority of Ding users are from the information technology industry, as well as the real estate and construction industry.
UK trade commissioner for China praised Chongqing as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
