The Chongqing Robotics Institute said training in robotic application and development will begin in the Beibei district on July 20.
The first phase of the training has recruited 50 students. Half of them are graduates of mechanical, computer and communication programs and the rest are middle and high ranking engineering technicians.
Shi Weiren, the institute's secretary general, said that the training courses' organizers also include the Chongqing Institute of Green and Intelligent Technology, the School of Automation of Chongqing University and Chongqing Huashu Robotics Co. It is Chongqing’s first training for robotic talent cultivation.
Those companies will send experts in robotics, intelligent sensors and computer technology to teach the trainees. More courses will be given by the Chongqing Liangjiang Robotics Application Center (Institute).
Each of the past two years saw an increase of 2,500 to 3,000 industrial robots used by Chongqing’s companies. Technicians had difficulty developing robot production lines sufficiently to satisfy the companies' increasing demands.
He Guotian, head of the expert panel, said robotic technicians should master robotic manufacturing techniques and operational methods. Robots added to the work force can be increased by 6000 each year if the gap of 10,000 talented technicians is filled.
