Chongqing, along with Zheng Zhou and Ganzhou, was recognized as a national demonstration center for processing trade by the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security.

Cultivating and constructing processing trade demonstration centers is an important part of coordination of regional development.

The ministries require that a processing trade demonstration city make a development plan, improve supportive policies, and promote public services via cooperation between government, social organizations and industry.
