Mount Wutai airport recently witnessed the operation of two new flights, local media reported.
One is a flight linking Mount Wutai, and cities of Tianjin and Chongqing. It started operation on March 27.
The other is a flight shuttling between Mount Wutai, and cities of Shanghai and Yinchuan which went operational on March 30.
The previous routes linking the resort and Haikou in Hainan province also made an adjustment by adding a new stop – the city of Guilin in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
Local authorities said they will open more flight routes to make the resort more accessible to visitors. They added that having more routes is conducive to boosting the development of local tourism and economy.
Located in North China's Shanxi province, Mount Wutai is one of the country's four famous Buddhist mountains and is considered a holy land for Buddhists. It was recognized as a World Heritage site for its cultural landscape by UNESCO in 2009.
UK trade commissioner for China praised Chongqing as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
