Cross-border ecommerce retailers in Liangjiang are looking to capitalize on the upcoming shopping frenzy on Nov 11, China's "Singles Day". The day has morphed into the country's biggest online shopping day of the year, similar to Black Friday in the US.
JOAYE Group, an ecommerce company specializing in health products, established a base in Liangjiang in June 2014. According to a senior of the company, around 70,000 orders are expected to be placed this Singles Day. In preparation for the shopping holiday, the company has overstocked on imports and has stored them in the Lianglu Cuntan Bonded Port.
The shopping holiday is a potentially lucrative opportunity for cross-border ecommerce enterprises and provides a good test for local supervision departments. A senior staff member from the Chongqing Office for Port Services said that the office's staff members are recently busy optimizing the cargo-clearance system to ensure that customers can receive their goods as soon as possible.
Chongqing Office for Port Services has also set up a cross-border ecommerce tracking platform to enable customers to keep up to date on the whereabouts of their goods.
Being a pilot area of cross-border commerce reforms, Liangjiang has seen its cross-border commerce develop rapidly in recent years. Lianglu Cuntan Port has constructed two semi-automatic checking and sorting lines and warehouses, covering 95,000 square meters. In the first half of this year, Liangjiang introduced 98 cross-border ecommerce enterprises.
