Some 56 containers full of coffee beans from Ho Chi Minh city in Vietnam arrived in Chongqing municipality recently.

The containers are due to be collected and distributed at Lianglu Cuntan Port in Liangjiang New Area, which is fast becoming an international distribution hub for coffee beans. After their collection and distribution, the coffee beans will be shipped to Europe on July 16.

The containers held a total of 1,120 tons of coffee beans, which arrived at Lianglu Cuntan Port on June 20. Chinese customs and sanitary authorities gave their support as they vowed to improve inspection efficiency.

In the International coffee market, products from Thailand and Vietnam have become more and more popular. However, due to these two countries' geographical location, shipping coffee products to western countries is inconvenient for them. With the Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe International Railway in operation, the shipping of coffee products from Thailand and Vietnam to western countries will be streamlined both in terms of time and costs.

The Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe Railway is an important transport connection between China and Europe. The route essentially connects Liangjiang with European countries and has been in operation for two years. Freight shipments on the route take 14 days to reach the final destination, a month shorter than ocean shipping.

If the distribution of coffee beans at Lianglu Cuntan proves to be successful, the volume of coffee products transported through the Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe International Railway is expected to reach 50,000 tons, according to a senior staff member from Lianglu Cuntan Port.
