The 3-day long Western China Tourism Industry Expo opened at the Chongqing Expo Center in Liangjiang New Area on June 26, according to Chongqing Daily.

Tan Jialing, vice mayor of Chongqing municipality, attended the opening ceremony and met with delegations at the conference.

The expo was sponsored by the Chongqing municipal government and China National Tourism Administration and was themed on China’s colorful western area.

According to the expo's sponsor, the exhibition area totaled 50,000 square meters. The exhibition included the Chongqing tourism exhibition area, International tourism exhibition area, leisure tourism area and tourism trade exhibition area. More than 500 companies from different countries and regions joined the exhibition.

At the exhibition site, ethnic dances were performed in front of visitors at the exhibition site by ethnic groups from Yunnan, Guizhou and Sichuan province.

The Chongqing Tourism Bureau also carried out a number of activities to advise tourist how to avoid tourism fraud.
