Construction work on the Chongqing Liangjiang Robotics Training School began recently in Liangjiang's Shuitu Industrial Park. The school will receive a total investment of 560 million yuan ($90.22 million) and will act as a talent incubator to promote Liangjiang's robot industry.
The training school is being jointly developed by Chongqing Mechatronic Technology School, Chongqing Guoyang Ltd and the Chongqing Advanced Technology Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences Institute.
According to Deng Anbao, general manager of Chongqing Guoyang Advanced Technology Enterprise, the construction of the robotics training school aims to address the lack of talent in the robot industry.
"We are making efforts in building a chain which will connect technology schools, research centers and industrial parks," said Deng.
In recent years, the market demand of robots in China has grown rapidly. In the first half of 2014, the sales volume of industrial robots reached 6,400 units.
However, training in the robotics industry has largely been focused on areas of research and sales, leaving robotic application talent in short supply.
"The establishment of a robotics training school will help to solve the problem of a lack of robotics application talent," said Tang Zongwei, deputy director of the Liangjiang administrative committee.
