In the first four months of this year, Liangjiang New Area has performed brilliantly in its large-scale industries, accumulating an industrial output of 128.929 billion yuan($20.8 billion), an increase of 28.9 percent over the same period of time last year. In particular, the auto industry had an output of 66.699 billion yuan, an increase of 33.3 percent.
According to the administrative committee, over half a million automobiles were produced, an increase of 25 percent over last year’s production of 330,000, and SUV production is over 100,000, an increase of 90 percent.
A closer watch of the auto companies shows that Chang’an Ford, which mainly produces jointly invested models like the Mondeo, Focus and Carnival, has secured steady growth in the monthly production and sales of all types of cars.
The Chang’an Yubei Factory, which mainly produces EADO, CS35 and other home-created cars, and Jiangbei Factory in the Yufu Industrial Development Zone are also increasing their production and sales.
In the hopes of making the Yufu Industrial Development Zone into an international auto complex, famous automobile factories are setting up shop and faring well. Car-part factories that have launched production include Chang’an, Hankooktire, Honeywell, Nimak, Chongqing Lingyun, Baogang Wheel and Chang’an Special Vehicle. Four technological factories in the SGMW in the Longxing Industrial Development Zone have been completed.
According to CAAM statistics, in the first quarter this year, the production and sales of passenger vehicles have moved upward steadily, among which SUV and MPV are the most prominent, both over 30 percent. Given this increase, domestic automobile production and sales are showing steady growth, and in the second half of this year, the area will accelerate its construction of the Dongfeng Xiaokang, SGMW, Phase 2 of the Chang’an factory in the Yufu Development Zone. The area will also attract increasing numbers of prominent auto enterprises and assure that the New Area’s auto industry gains momentum.
