China will continue its focus on economic development and maintain the "medium-high growth rate" of its economy, China's top leaders said.

The CPC on Tuesday issued the full text of proposals for mapping out a blueprint for China's development over the next five years starting 2016.

Strategic industries related to issues ranging from the reform of State-owned enterprises to industrial upgrading and greener growth are expected to get a boost under the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20) despite a likely lower overall growth target for the period, analysts said.

Development during the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20) should uphold the five principles of innovation, coordination, green development, opening-up and sharing, according to Vice-Premier Zhang Gaoli.

China is facing a strategic period with opportunities of making great achievements amidst daunting challenges.

The Fifth Plenary Session of the 18th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, which was held at the end of Oct, adopted proposals for economic and social development in the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020).
