Guo inspects StarTimes

On August 30, Guo Jinlong, secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, visited StarTimes in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area for research.

Li Wei, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and head of the city’s department of publicity, as well as Li Changyou and Liang Sheng, leaders of, participated in the research.

In combination with the national conditions and customs of African countries, StarTimes has built 21 film and TV channels independently. Classic Chinese screen images and the passions of modern life have been presented to African audiences through accurate interpretation, which significantly enriches their cultural life.

Guo observed the production, playing, interpretation and dubbing of TV programs; had short conservations with both Chinese and foreign employees; and gave credit to the strategy of StarTimes in building platforms with Chinese characteristics. Guo said: “Five years ago, StarTimes bravely dashed to set foot in Africa. Now it has successfully gained a foothold in Africa.”

The mini player independently developed by StarTimes has replaced television and can project video directly to the wall. It has a longer useful life and lower price. The combination of such an innovative terminal product, with the digital television transmitting station and television broadcasting and control center contributing to the gradual realization of the dream that each African family can "afford to buy and watch a digital television, and enjoy better" digital television. Guo Jinlong praised the technical equipment researched and developed by StarTimes as very practical and revolutionary to the popularity of television.

During research, Guo Jinlong listened to StarTimes’ development strategy of "going out" and building a media group with global influence. Guo said that the internationalized development strategy that StarTimes implements based on science and technology is identical to the general orientation that China explores with the international market, which encourages cultural enterprises to "go abroad."

Guo hopes that StarTimes can seize the historical opportunity to deepen reform, open wider to the outside world, propagate China's voice and tell China's story in the "going abroad" process of culture. We should continue support, perform all services and create a good environment for the development of enterprise. Meanwhile, relevant departments and media organizations are encouraged to strengthen their cooperation with StarTimes to explore the establishment of strategic alliances and jointly develop enterprises.
