Since the formation of this "Double First-Class" initiative, China's arts education system has met new challenges and opportunities.

How can Chinese arts education developed by the "Double First-Class" initiative? That was the focus on this year's symposium.

With clear goals, the Symposium finally agreed the "Hangzhou Consensus - Art Discipline Development Led by the Double First-Class Initiative", based on the Hangzhou Consensus" achieved at the first China Art Education Symposium last year.

The consensus puts forward:

1. Art education led by the "Double First-Class" initiative should be based on two fundamental points: Traditional culture and cultural confidence. And push forward the innovation of traditional culture in order to build China into a cultural power.

2. Develop a talent-training system based on features of arts education focusing on talents' morality, all-round development and creativity. It combines moral education, professional training and culture inheritance. Moreover, it emphasizes innovation derived from tradition and makes art a means of fostering a social and public aesthetic education environment.

3. Build a national evaluation standard based on both arts research and creative practice. Develop a national alliance of arts universities featuring openness, sharing and collaboration to produce an evaluation standard recognized by the industry. Each arts university should systematically sort out its academic features and development strategies to form its own specialized self- evaluation standard.
