The Shaanxi Pilot Free Trade Zone launched its first wine tasting conference in the Xi’an International Trade and Logistics (ITL) Park on June 4.
During the conference, a launching ceremony for the ITL Red Wine Trading Base was also held with Wang Yongkang, Party secretary of Xi’an, and other entrepreneurial representatives in attendance.
Occupying an area of 15,000 square meters, the red wine trading base has several imported goods trading centers, and exhibits and sells various additional products including cookies, drinks, olive oils, medicines and skin care products.
The demand of imported wine in mainland China has risen due to mainstream belief of its health benefits and the good quality of the wine itself. The Xi'an port wine trading base has introduced several wine trade enterprises from France, Italy, Spain, and Germany to build national taverns and bring more than 1000 famous red wines into the market. The introduction of fine wine has changed the consumption patterns and lifestyles of Xi'an residents.
“We will make the base the largest imported red wine wholesale and retail trade center in northwestern China,” said Sun Yimin, director of the administrative committee of thr Xi’an ITL Park.
