A city wall lantern show commenced on Jan 21 in Xi’an, beginning a countdown to the Chinese Year of the Rooster.
The event highlights the many cultures along the Silk Road, and expects to help visitors appreciate the regionally unique artistic styles.
The lantern festival has been held for the past 30 years, and has become a cultural icon in the city. This year the event will last till March 5.
