Beibu Bay Rim transportation hub set for construction

The 2016 work report reveals that no less than nine billion yuan ($1.4 billion) will be poured into developing transportation infrastructure throughout the course of the year. The money will go toward 17 key projects in the area, several of which are among the government list of further development. These include the construction of the Zhanjiang section of the Yunfu-Zhanjiang Expressway, the Donghai Island-Leizhou Expressway, Donghai Island Railway and the electrification of the Litang-Zhanjiang Railway. The government also reaffirmed their support for Zhanjiang Airport in helping it forge links with other international airports to open more airlines and improve its serving capacity.

Zhanjiang-Zhaoqing-Guangzhou-Heyuan special high speed train route to be launched

According to Liu's report, the Zhanjiang-Zhaoqing train route will undergo rapid development this year. With a total investment of 68 billion yuan ($10.42 billion), the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang section of the route will span 440 kilometers and is expected to reduce the current travel time from Zhanjiang to Heyuan to two hours. Tourists will be able to appreciate the view of Canton Tower in Guangzhou and enjoy the seafood on offer in Zhanjiang in half a day upon the completion of the route.
